How do I change the motor in a Eureka model 6865A Power Nozzle

  • Remove the Power Nozzle cord from the hose.
  • Remove the metal wand from the power nozzle neck
  • Set the power nozzle upsidw down on a work bench with a pad under it
  • Remove the four screws from the bottom base (1 in each corner)
  • Remove the old belt from the motor and brush roll . Now’s a good time to install a new belt.
  • Trace the two wires from the motor to where they are attached (They are probably attached with crimpable wire caps wihch can be removed with heavy duty pliers by squeezing the caps the opposite way they were crimped
  • Uncrimp one motor wire at a time and use a a new crimpable wire cap or a small twist type wire cap (gray) to reattach one of the new motor wires.
  • Repeat this process for the other wire. If using the twist type wire cap, a small strip of electrical tape will keep the cap from loosening up.
  • Remove the two screws that secure the motor to the base and install the new motor
  • Reinstall the belt, brush roll and top cover and test
