How to change belt on Dirt Platinum Force Upright Vacuum

This is a fairly simple procedure that will work with MOST Dirt Devil Platinum Force uprights using belt Style 12.

  • Make sure your vacuum cleaner is unplugged from the electrical outlet before proceeding
  • Stand your vacuum upside down with the handle on the floor and the head resting against a sturdy surface. Position the head so that the belt side is on your right.
  • Remove the plastic plate that covers the brush roll. Some models may have screws, but most just lift off.
  • Remove the brush roll and the old belt.
  • Remove any carpet fiber or hair from the brush roll.
  • Place the new belt on the motor shaft first then on the groove of the brush roll.
  • Place the left side of the brush roll into the left side notch in the brush roll housing and push the right side of the brush roll forward until it is seated in it’s notch on the right.
  • Rotate the brush by hand to make sure it has not been pinched between the brush and the housing.
  • Replace the bottom plate and test your machine.

Note: Flat belts stretch over time as much as 50% or more. Don’t assume you have the wrong belt just because the new belt is much samller than the old belt.
