If your Kenmore canister has suction power but no power to the power nozzle; disconnect the hose from the metal wands. Take a look at the two hole receptacle at the end of the hose handle (at the point where the hose handle plugs in to the top of the two prong cord on the upper wand). The two hole receptacle should be flush to the end of the rigid plastic frame. If the two hole receptacle is pushed back (usually about a 1/4 inch) then the plug and receptacle can’t make contact and no power can get to your power nozzle.
The problem is that the plastic frame inside the hose handle has broken and the receptacle just slides backward. You will need to replace the nozzle assembly inside the hose handle. You can view a schematic of most Kenmore vacuums at www.sears.com. Click the parts link and then enter your model number. (For canisters the serial number is on the bottom of your machine in this format (xxx.xxxxxxx). You can order this part directly from Sears OR you may also be able to get the Panasonic equivalent part from your local vacuum dealer or even from us at www.vacuumcleanershop.com

Thanks! I actually just used a screwdriver to pry the receptacle back up to flush and used a toothpick to get some JB Weld around it to hold it in place. Works great so far!
