My rainbow will not turn on.

My rainbow will not turn on. It acts like a fuse or something has blown. Is there any on the rainbow e series?

Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help us to maintain this site for you.

  • Any number of things could be wrong, but before checking further; there is a post that sticks straight up from the water pan. This post actuates a safety switch on the bottom of the canister. If this post is broken or if the machine is not sitting straight on the water pan or is not latched securely then your machine will not run. It’s also possible that the safety switch is bad.

Other possibilities include; bad power cord, bad switch, bad controller(large rectangular box on top of motor (2 speed motors)) or even a bad motor.

Before my rainbow quit working, I could smell an odor similar to an electrical short, burnt smell. The rainbow now will not turn on. What can I do?

    Thanks,

I am looking for the two prong connector with a female end and the other is a male which connects the hose to the cannister. The electrical connector is about 9 inches long. Wondering where I might order one Rainbow vac

  • My old style rainbow was making a squealing noise then quit working. Motor area smells funny. Could this be a bad belt or motor? If not what should I look for?

where can I post this question: Is there a diaghram of an old (1970)rainbow where it show how to re-attach the cord to the switch? When the switch became loose, I removed the switch and cord and put it back again, but now it won’t start. Before it was working fine. The only issue was a loose switch. please help!

my “E” series does work when you put the power button to the low position or back like to filter the air but when I put it to the front to make it work like a vacuum to clean it will not work. What can I do to fix it?

My Rainbow would not start. the first step to take is to remove the motor from the base and try to spin the seperator/ filter by hand. The problem with mine was the motor flange plate had corrodded and jammed the separator from moving. Clean, order new flange plate (part # R-747) Spray the screws first with penatrating oil. If that doesn’t work; take a large flat screwdriver and pry the flange off in pieces. Then spray the screws again. You can now grab the screws with a small pair of vice grips. Good luck, Greg
