Steam Vac not Vacuuming

Recently ordered and replaced the motor (43576197) in my F7431-900 Hoover Steam Vac. now it’s blowing air out where it should be vacuuming water in. Reversed the wiring hoping to fix the problem. Still blows. Almost seems as if the motor is running backwards. Any thoughts?
